elevated comfort food, including fancy grilled cheese with shiitake bacon compote, two bite tacos with heritage pork and Lac des Allemands catfish, fried eggplant with pan seared shrimp, prime beef tenderloin and au gratin potatoes. Chasing Wang baked a sculptural cake designed with amazing artistry and expert skill. The wedding cake provided a sensory explosion, including the mirrored remnants of a shattered disco ball that dramatically imploded on top of a delightful confection of pink perfection. The groom’s cake, made by Bonne Bedingfield of Beautifully Baked by Bonne, was a striking replica of the family’s beloved pet, Archie Manning. The dog is named after the football legend and his coat was proudly colored in black and gold, a natural tribute to the Super Bowl legends. Christa knew that there was only one way to end such an enchanting evening and it wasn’t riding away in a horse and carriage. Someone must have cast a magic spell because the City of New Orleans only issued one second line WEDDINGS W permit that Saturday, when the Krewe of Boo Parade was also scheduled. Cheers to Love Potion #9! Kinfolk, the baddest brass band in the land, led The Bitter Bitners and their entire wedding entourage in an especially spicy second line. The parade ended at Fives Bar in the French Quarter. The honeymoon isn’t over. The newlyweds have scheduled an amorous European adventure with a side trip to Sweden to view the Northern Lights.
