WEDDINGS W Scrivner has a keen eye for details and facial expressions. Although she studied art at Columbus State University, her career choice came somewhat as a surprise. “I was not the kid who grew up drawing all the time,” she says, reminiscing on how she arrived at becoming a professional artist. Under the mentorship of renowned artists such as Bo Bartlett, Scrivner thrived and blossomed as a gifted and passionate painter. With each brushstroke, she came closer and closer to her ultimate career as an artist. Originally, she gravitated toward portraits of babies and dogs and other still life subjects, but as she honed her craft, she discovered how much she truly enjoyed painting people, highlighting their facial expressions. Several years ago her schedule began to fill with commissioned portraits, but everything changed in December of 2019 when a friend asked if Kate would consider painting their wedding. Intrigued, she agreed and showed up to the wedding, paint and easel in tow. She sat through the ceremony, painting throughout the service, and eventually took the painting home with her to complete. Her friends loved it, and Scrivner found she truly enjoyed the entire experience.
