Photo at right by Megan Kay Photography. at their wedding was a dream come true for the bride and groom. “I had been dreaming of having a painter at my wedding ever since I was obsessively watching Four Weddings in high school and saw one on there,” says Samantha. “When my husband and I got engaged, I started scouring Instagram before I found Kate’s page. We fell in love with her style, and she was one of the first vendors I reached out to as soon as we had a date. “I ended up booking her two years out because it had to be her! The experience with Kate was amazing; we had several calls where we talked through potential scenes to paint, and she helped us decide between our first kiss at the altar and our first dance. We are so grateful we had Kate there and that we have a wonderful piece of art in our home to look back on and cherish forever.” Scrivner loves making her pieces as personal as possible and has often been asked to go the extra mile when painting a portrait for a couple. She has had the opportunity to add a symbolic detail like a small bird to a painting, which for the couple signified the memory of a loved one. She has also incorporated pets that were not at the wedding ceremony. She once painted the six pet cats of the bride and groom very surreptitiously into a live wedding painting. Scrivner also does commissioned work, so even if she is unable to attend a wedding, she can still provide a beautiful portrait for a couple, based on a photo. This is a wonderful option for those who desperately wish they had known about this service when they married or for couples who want to book her when she is unavailable.
